Safeguarding Policy

First Impressions Theatre acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and First Impressions Theatre requirements.

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children

have a positive and enjoyable experience of classes at First Impressions Theatre in a safe and child centred environment

are protected from abuse whilst participating in all classes at First Impressions Theatre or outside of the activity.

First Impressions Theatre acknowledges that some children, including disabled children and young people or those from ethnic minority communities, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse and we accept the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.

As part of our safeguarding policy First Impressions Theatre will

promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people

ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern

ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored

prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals

ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation.

The policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in First Impressions Theatre. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal/exclusion from the organisation.

Monitoring

The policy will be reviewed a year after development and then every three years, or in the following circumstances:

changes in legislation and/or government guidance

as required by the Local Safeguarding Children Board

as a result of any other significant change or event.

Privacy Policy


This policy is effective from 1st May 2018.

This privacy policy sets out how First Impressions Theatre uses and protects any information collected when you use our website.

All personal information which you can be identified with when using this website, will only be used in accordance to this privacy policy. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

We may update this policy when required, please check back to make sure you are happy with any changes made.

What we collect
Should you sign up to First Impressions Theatre, we will collect the following information through the Class4Kids software:

– Parent name
– Childs name, DOB and School Year Group
– Your email address
– Telephone contact number
– Your child’s relevant medical information
– Your address

– 3 emergency contacts, that we can contact if your child is involved in an emergency

You will automatically be added to our mailing list. Please let us know if you do not want to receive our emails, but unsubscribing, or letting us know via email.

Your rights regarding your personal data
Under GDPR (as with previous Data Protection legislation) all individuals associated with First Impressions have the right to:

1. Access their own personal data easily.
2. Have their own personal data rectified/updated upon request.
3. Have their own personal data removed.
4. Restrict any processing of their own personal data.
5. Object to their own personal data being used.

What we use data for
First Impressions Theatre uses personal information through a booking form to contact parents when signing up children for classes, trials or holidays courses.

To maintain relationships with alumni of the classes
To give notification of events
To place photograph images of staff, alumni and pupils in the school and retaining them for historical purposes
For storing of emails and other communications to ensure we are able to tailer our information
For the promotions of services and benefits available to students and parents

Accuracy


First Impressions Theatre ensure to keep all information up to date. Should circumstances or information change, you have the right to ask for old information to be removed or updated.

Storage and use of Personal Information
We no longer accept paper copies of booking forms. Any previous paper copies of booking forms have either been destroyed, or kept in a locked filing cabinet at First Impressions Offices.

Incident report forms will be kept for the appropriate time as advised by St John’s Ambulance in a secure filing cabinet, or password protected computer.

Teachers of First Impressions Theatre will be informed of medical or personal information on a need to know basis. Access to all office computers is password protected and is only accessible to the Directors of the company.

Who do we pass information on to?
First Impressions Theatre will only pass on data information with your permission – This is only in the circumstance of talent agents and exam-coordinators. In this situation, we will always seek for you to contact them first.

How long we store data
Any images or video footage taken during your time at First Impressions Theatre will be stored on a password protected computer. This will be kept indefinitely, unless specified from you to be erased. Some images may be used for promotional purposes.

How Can We Update or remove our data?
Send us an email to request that you unsubscribe.

How can you access the data you store about us?
Please email us and we will provide you with a copy of the data we hold about you/your child.

Security


Our emails and contact sheets are on a password protected computer. First Impressions Theatre work hard towards ensuring that your personal information is safe and secured.
